Our new blog!

Uncategorized

We have started this blog to share clear, practical information about living in, owning and running a managed development.

Leasehold and estate management can feel complicated. There are leases and transfers, service charges, budgets, insurance, safety rules and a steady flow of new legislation. Most people only want to know what it means for them and their building. That is what this blog is for.

What you will find here

Guides. Straightforward articles on the questions we are asked most often. How service charges are set and what they pay for. What a reserve fund is. What directors of a Residents’ Management Company or Right to Manage company are responsible for. What to expect when you buy or sell a flat.

Training videos. Short videos that show you how things work, step by step. These will include how to use our new web portal when it launches.

Legislation updates. Leasehold law is changing, and more reform is on the way. When something changes that affects leaseholders, directors or homeowners on private estates, we will explain what it is, when it applies and what, if anything, you need to do.

News from Butlin Property Services. Updates from our office in Clarendon Park, including changes to our services and the people you deal with.

Who it is for

Leaseholders, homeowners on managed estates, and the directors of the management companies we work for. If you live in or look after a development in Leicester, the East Midlands or further afield, it is written for you.

A note on how it works

Everything here is written by our own team. We have been managing blocks and estates since 1997, and our property managers are qualified through The Property Institute.

The articles are general guidance. Your own lease or transfer always comes first, so please check it or ask us if you are unsure.

Comments are switched off, but we would like to hear from you. If there is a subject you want us to cover, or you have a question about your own building, call us on 0116 270 3705 or email enquiries@butlinps.co.uk.
